Reena Sheth knows that New York City isn’t the first place most people would study Wilderness Medicine–her concentration at the Gallatin School of Individualized Study. At NYU, students and faculty examine the environmental and also sustainability challenges of our time in innovative ways every day.

Reena takes advantage of opportunities like the Urban Farm Lab to gain a deeper understanding of the natural world. Melissa Metric, who teaches Introduction to Urban Agriculture, runs The Lab. It is a place where students develop an understanding of sustainable agricultural practices and how they relate not only to environmental issues but also to health, entrepreneurship, and food justice.

Watch as Reena shares what she’s learned as an urban farmer.
