April 22 is Earth Day, an opportunity to support the environmental movement and take action to build a healthier planet. But why stop at a single day? Here at NYU, we’re celebrating Earth Month all April long with a variety of virtual festivities. This year’s topics include social justice, sustainable fashion, climate change, and much more. And here’s one pandemic-era bonus: many events (though not all) are open to the public, and you can join from anywhere. Fair Food Fest

How can you help create a food system that works for everyone? This delicious and nutritious panel discussion features experts on food justice, food security, and food ethics. Register for our first Earth Month event here.

April 5–9, 2021 | Various Times

Sustainable Apparel Summit

Sustainability and style go hand in hand at this weeklong summit, which includes discussions with panelists from leading brands that are building a greener future in fashion. Hosted by University of Michigan’s Ross Retail Club and Net Impact, the summit concludes with an interactive workshop to determine the sustainability of your wardrobe. Blackness and Biodiversity Conservation

Join senior conservation professionals who identify as Black as they share their experiences with environmental and racial justice—and their visions for a more inclusive and equitable environmental movement going forward. Register for this NYU Earth Month webinar here.

April 16, 2021 | 2:00–3:30 p.m. ET

Green Zone

Once Earth Month is over, the work will still remain. Learn to be a better ally and advocate at this virtual training, part of NYU’s interactive One Zone trainings. Throughout the session, participants learn to meaningfully participate at the intersection of the environmental justice and social justice movements. This event is only open to members of the NYU community.

State of Sustainability

NYU is dedicated to greener campuses and a more sustainable future. During our 2021 address, we’ll share recent accomplishments, discuss upcoming initiatives, and recognize community leaders. This event is only open to members of the NYU community.

Earth Day Recycled Arts and Crafts

The past year has been tough, so join EarthMatters, NYU’s campus-wide environmental club, for a fun evening of eco-friendly arts and crafts! We’ll embrace our inner artist and upcycle everyday materials into gallery-worthy (or at least dorm-worthy) art. Sign up here.

Sustainability Summit

Wondering how to live that plastic-free life? EarthMatters’ fifth annual summit explores the widespread production and presence of plastics and provides tools to reduce your own plastic use.
