NYU students in every major have access to extraordinary resources and the support they need to launch innovative projects and bring their visions to life. Write a feature-length film, develop a prototype, start a business, compose your first album, or create your dream video game. Chances are NYU has a resource to help make it happen. Here, no matter what you’d like to achieve, you’ll find the labs, studios, makerspaces, and encouragement to do it. At the NYU Urban Farm Lab, students get experience propagating and caring for seasonal crops in an urban environment. This outdoor classroom doubles as a research lab and community farm. There, step-by-step, students learn how to grow food from seed to harvest.

NYU’s James L. Dolan Music Recording Studio is among New York City’s largest recording spaces. What’s more, it’s one of the most technologically advanced audio teaching facilities in the United States. At the state-of-the-art facility, students access the latest technologies as they explore the ever-evolving world of music production.

The Program on Creativity + Innovation (PCI) at NYU Shanghai provides students the space and resources to unleash their creativity. Through its unique, project-based courses, labs, and event series, PCI equips students with tools to access their inner creator—an increasingly crucial skill in today’s job market.

The NYU Game Center Open Library is home to one of the biggest game collections in the world. Boasting more than 2,000 digital and nondigital games, it is dedicated to the exploration of games as a cultural form and game design as a creative practice. In addition to the Game Center, students can check out the NYU Tandon School of Engineering Game Innovation Lab. There, they can focus on the technical, engineering, and scientific side of game design.

The NYU Production Lab supports the next generation of artists as they transition from classroom to career. There, students working on creative projects have access to mentorship and funding. Additionally, the lab offers collaborative spaces where student creatives can audition actors, hold production meetings, attend industry lectures, or host film screenings. Previously, students have developed feature-length screenplays and films that have debuted at festivals like Sundance and Tribeca.

At the NYU Tandon MakerSpace, located on NYU’s Downtown Brooklyn campus, students find support for their collaborative design projects. There, they have access to prototyping and production equipment, including 3D printers, sewing machines, and laser cutters as well as mentorship and workshops to learn how to use them. The MakerSpace also hosts events and workshops where students can learn, connect, and collaborate.
