This year, the Arthur O. Eve Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP) is celebrating its 50th anniversary. As the largest HEOP program in New York State, NYU is celebrating its legacy of access, opportunity, and student success.

  • Since the inception of HEOP in 1969, more than 3,000 students have graduated from the program.
  • The HEOP Class of 2023 consists of 80 percent first-generation students.

  • In 2019, more than 6,000 tutoring hours were accrued through tutoring services dedicated specifically to students in Opportunity Programs (professional tutoring, peer tutoring, and University Learning Center tutoring partnership).
  • Since On-campus Housing Support started in 2015, 80 percent of HEOP students live on campus today.
