Studying abroad is a life-changing experience. For those passionate about music and culture, NYU Prague is a standout option. Nestled in the heart of the Czech Republic, Prague offers a blend of history, architecture, and vibrant cultural scenes. It’s an ideal destination for students like Antonio, a Music Business major at the NYU Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development.
“I chose to study at NYU Prague because of the amount of history in the city,” Antonio says. “Prague is such a business center of the Czech Republic, but it’s also the musical center.”
NYU Prague is strategically located on Malé Náměstí (the Small Square). Additionally, it’s just steps away from the iconic Old Town Square. This situates students in the heart of a city renowned for its historical significance and architectural splendor. From the Velvet Revolution’s Wenceslas Square and the Prašná Brána (Powder Tower) to the ancient Jewish Quarter and the picturesque Charles Bridge, every corner of Prague is rich with history.
The NYU academic center itself is a testament to Prague’s architectural heritage. For example, it’s located inside the 15th-century Blue Building, with painted wooden Renaissance ceilings and arched entryways, and Richter Palace, with its baroque facade. What’s more, these buildings house an English-language library with an extensive collection focused on Central Europe.
NYU Prague’s journalism, media, and music programs—both performance and composition—provide unique learning opportunities. And the academic internship program allows students to earn credit while gaining practical experience in various industries.
“All the resources at NYU Prague feel like they were tailored to my major,” Antonio says. “I’m able to use them to their full extent.”
Beyond the classroom, students immerse themselves in a city where cultures and histories intersect. From architectural wonders and world-class museums to concert halls and international cuisines, Prague offers a vibrant backdrop for an enriching academic journey.
