Students unwinding on campus

College can be tough, but you're tougher.

There’s a certain point every semester where students feel like they’ve hit a wall, and it usually arrives around midterm season. However, when you need a helping hand in navigating your mental health, NYU lends it. The university provides support no matter what you need.

Helping Hands

The Wellness Exchange

The greatest mental health resource at NYU

The Wellness Center provides students with resources designed to help a wide range of needs. They have a 24-hour hotline at 212-443-9999, a free Wellness Exchange app, and appointments with counselors. The best part? These services are free for matriculated NYU students.

No problem is too big or small for the Wellness Exchange. They even have services for students who need help but aren’t sure where to look. With a counselor’s help, students will find the resource that fits them best. Mental health always comes first at the Wellness Exchange.

Counseling and Wellness Services (CWS)

No problem is too big or small

For students seeking counseling, CWS offers individual and group counseling for free or reduced cost. Individual experiences with mental health differ, so CWS supports you through each individual need. Some students seek general counseling, while others may prefer to address a more specific mental health area. Luckily, CWS has both general and specialized counselors ready and willing to help you.

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, these counseling options moved to an entirely virtual space. Students now meet with their counselors from the comfort and safety of their homes.

Wellness Workshops

Where students develop helpful skills

Hosted within CWS, Wellness Workshops help students develop new personal, social, academic, and professional skills. They are a great resource for students looking to improve their mental health by way of acquiring new and useful skills.

Some unique workshop offerings include Navigating Healthy Relationships, Mindfulness, and Thoughtful Communication. For students looking to add new and useful skills to their self-care toolbox, Wellness Workshops might be for you.

Relaxtation Oasis

Find your zen

The Mindfulness Initiative is a joint collaboration between CWS and the Wellness Exchange. It was founded on the belief that mindfulness can be transformative for the NYU community. The Relaxation Oasis helps NYU students achieve maximum zen through mental health improvement techniques.

Students have multiple resources to choose from at the Relaxation Oasis, like the Yoga Room, Calming Corner, and “Ask the Stresspert.” These spaces allow students to address mental health concerns and learn how to combat them.

No problem is too big or small when it comes to mental health.

Your mind matters, your mental health matters, YOU matter.
