Institute of Contemporary Arts

The Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) is a non-profit kunsthalle (gallery) and research center committed to the development, presentation, and exchange of diverse ideas through contemporary arts. The ICA’s mission is based on a core belief that engagement with art engenders critical thought, creativity, and openness to complexity, across disciplines and society and in everyday life. With a purpose-built facility that spans over 700 square meters, including two levels of exhibition spaces, a reading room, and an event space, the ICA welcomes visitors from both the NYU Shanghai community and beyond campus to engage with exhibitions, events, and publications that experiment with ways of knowing, being, and relating to ourselves and the world.
