Stern School of Business

The lounges on the 3rd and 4th floors of the Kaufman Management Center at the Stern School of Business provide a peaceful escape from Bobst’s hustle. With cozy seating and a relaxed vibe, these lounges are ideal for focused study or group work. The spacious layout and natural light make it easy to settle in with your books or laptop. Plus, a short trip to the cafe below rewards you with a refreshing coconut cold brew, perfect for staying energized while studying. This hidden gem not only satisfies caffeine cravings but also enhances your overall campus experience.

Kimmel Center for University Life

The Kimmel Center for University Life is a 10-story treasure, offering multiple lounges and study spaces. The lounges on the 7th, 8th, and 9th floors provide a calm environment. Open to all students, these spaces are great for quiet study sessions while enjoying the beautiful park views. Kimmel stands out with its diverse seating options, including rare three-sided sofas, making it comfortable for extended study hours.

Additionally, the lounges are equipped with microwaves, refrigerators, and sinks for your convenience. Power outlets are abundant, ensuring your devices stay charged during long sessions. And again: don’t forget the views! Window seats offer a perfect look at Washington Square Park by day and the Empire State Building lights by night, making studying truly inspiring. Remember, the building closes at 10 p.m., so plan accordingly!

John A. Paulson Center

The John A. Paulson Center is a great alternative to the crowded Bobst Library, with study rooms and lounges on every floor offering a quiet atmosphere. Personally, I find the Paulson Center more peaceful, with larger spaces that allow for better concentration. The 9th floor has a lounge with comfortable sofas, perfect for a nap or cozy study session.

Paulson also features practice rooms and piano studios, making it ideal for music students. Additionally, the center includes a gym and swimming pool, letting you balance academics with fitness. Don’t forget to try Crave, the on-site cafe, where the salads are surprisingly delicious! Whether you’re hitting the books or relaxing, Paulson offers everything you need to support both studying and well-being.

726 Broadway

The 6th and 7th floors of 726 Broadway provide a hidden oasis for those seeking a quiet place to study. One highlight is the friendly security staff downstairs, who always warmly greet you and create a welcoming vibe. Occasionally you might even stumble upon free food, adding a pleasant surprise to your study session.

Unlike other buildings on campus, 726 Broadway has much less traffic, ensuring a calm environment perfect for focusing on your work. The 3rd and 4th floors also house the Student Health Center, making it convenient for those needing health resources. If you’re searching for serenity away from the busy campus, the 6th and 7th floors of 726 Broadway are definitely worth checking out.

School of Professional Studies

The School of Professional Studies (SPS) main building at 7 East 12th Street is an excellent study choice. The classrooms are accessible during non-class hours, providing a quiet spot for individual study. However, you may encounter students during class breaks, making it less ideal for longer stays. For a more relaxed vibe, the 5th-floor lounge offers a great spot to unwind or collaborate with classmates.

The SPS teaching facility at 11 West 42nd Street provides more study opportunities. The 5th and 10th floors are designed for learning and relaxation, with comfortable seating and a study-friendly environment. The 2nd floor includes a lounge, commuter lounge, and balcony, allowing students to enjoy fresh air while studying or taking breaks. Whether you’re seeking a quiet space to focus or a place to connect with peers, SPS buildings offer options to enhance your academic experience.

From Stern’s inviting lounges to Kimmel’s stunning views and from Paulson’s calm spaces to 726 Broadway’s welcoming atmosphere, there’s no shortage of places to explore. SPS buildings further elevate the study experience with quiet classrooms and relaxing lounges. Whether you’re looking for a peaceful nook, a collaborative space, or just a place to unwind, venture beyond the library and discover these hidden study spots. Happy studying!
