Top Five College Room Must Haves

This one is my absolute favorite! New York City tests its tap water, and it’s common knowledge that it’s one of the cleanest in the nation. However, my suspicious nature still tells me to grab a filter. The filter has been by far my best investment providing me with crispy clean water. This not only saved me money but time as well. I spent my first few months at NYU with weekly trips to the local pharmacy to buy cases of water. The weight of these cases definitely didn’t make it any easier!

Noise cancelling headphones can be a relaxing escape from the sounds and distractions of college life. These are a must-have for a blissful noise free study time, or you know…a Netflix marathon. These were a lifesaver my first semester and even opened me up to new music genres with my ever expanding Spotify playlist.

Whether your apartment has a kitchen or not, a mini fridge is a great way to keep snacks and drinks at hand, especially when you are in a hurry or pulling an all-nighter! It’s always smart to have a well-stocked mini fridge. You can even split costs with your roommate(s) if you’d like to share it with them.

Although NYU is generally good with the whole AC situation, a fan is still necessary to survive the warmth of the first few summer months. My fan has saved me countless times when a sudden onset of hot days came pouring through.

Wanna make instant friends your first week? Have an HDMI Cord…period. It’s essentially a cord that uses audio/visual ports to example connect DVD players, video games, etc to TVs. My first week, 3 people came knocking up and down the hall asking for an HDMI cord. Most people use it to connect laptops to the TV in the student lounge. Netflix marathoners, video game connoisseurs, and Super Bowl fanatics will thank you, hopefully with snacks.
